The Growery is Ireland’s first Urban Food Commons, situated in Birr Co.Offaly, in the Irish midlands. The initiative was established in 2015 on a previously vacant and disused plot leased from the Oxmantown Settlement Trust. All work to date has 100% voluntary, and since opening, the Growery has hosted groups from near and far, locally, nationally and internationally, while providing an open ‘non-activity specific’ third space in the town.
