Mervue United AFC was formed in 1960 by a small group of Mervue locals. The club has grown from then to be one of the biggest in the West of Ireland and fields over 25 teams in both male and female Galway District League competitions and Connacht and national FAI and SFAI competitions.
The club's Junior A team play in the Premier Division of the Galway District League, while the Junior B team play in the First Division.
