We are excited to announce Ireland’s first #BuySocialIRL week for 14th November 2022.
The first #BuySocialIRL Week launched today in Dublin with events planned nationwide, including Cork and Galway. Running from the 14th until 21st November, #BuySocialIRL asks businesses to buy social and back social enterprises around the country.
Social enterprises sell products and services and reinvest their profits back into their communities. Bringing social enterprises into the supply chain can deliver a range of benefits for businesses, including supporting their local community.
At the launch, Irish Social Enterprise Network CEO, Chris MM Gordon, said:
“This #BuySocialIRL week celebrates the best of social enterprises across Ireland. Social enterprises are businesses for good. If you purchase from a social enterprise, you are helping employ people that might not have had a job otherwise, you are supporting local community initiatives and directly impacting people’s lives.
Through this #BuySocialIRL week, all we ask is that you consider buying something from a social enterprise.”
You can check out the BuySocial.ie directory to search for local social enterprises providing products and services, including Mug Shot Coffee who create sustainable jobs for people who have experienced prison or probation, We Make Good Ireland’s 1st social enterprise design store, Brigit’s Garden a place where people of all ages can connect with nature, Siel Bleu who work with elderly, patient groups and people living with disabilities to transform lives through exercise, Range Therapy which is responding to the climate crisis by extending the range of electric vehicles and The Great Care Coop founded by migrant women, that takes care of the elderly as well as its own workers.
Key #BuySocialIRL ‘Meet and Greet’ events are taking place in Cork and Galway on November 14th and 16th. Designed as an opportunity for social enterprises to showcase their services to potential buyers with talks from key leaders in social enterprise.
#BuySocialIRL is coordinated by the Irish Social Enterprise Network and supported by the Department of Rural and Community Development, the Dormant Accounts Fund and Pobal.
